I am new to politics. This is my first time running for elected office. But I am not new to activism. I was taught that we have a responsibility to care, to show up, to stand up, and to advocate for the things we believe in.
I believe in the transformative power of government to make lives better. Working together, we have the opportunity to enhance the quality of life for all Mainers. To achieve this goal, we need legislators in Augusta that have leadership, education, entrepreneurial, public service, innovation, and technology expertise and experience.
I built an internationally recognized cybersecurity company here in South Portland, Maine. From the start, we viewed our mission to protect critical infrastructure and national security as a civic duty. Our founding principles were that we would be transparent, give generously of our resources, put family first, and honor teamwork
From our first employee, we offered comprehensive benefits including 100% company-paid insurance, matching retirement savings, and paid time off. And we distributed bonuses equally to every employee.
We recruited students from Maine universities and colleges from Fort Kent to SMCC and mentored their careers. We attracted professionals from across the country. In 2015, we earned the #1 Best Places to Work in Maine™ award.
Throughout my career, I have set and achieved bold goals. I have fought for equality and diversity. I have been at the forefront of workforce development. I have created coalitions and brought together competing entities for the common good and public service.
I would be honored to bring my experience to the Maine Senate. To get there, I need your support. Please vote for me in the July 14th Democratic Primary. Together, we will make a difference.
We moved to Maine 34 years ago. We came here for a job and stayed for the quality of life. My husband Eric and I bought a home in South Portland, raised and educated our two sons Benjamin and Max here (SPHS classes of 2000 and 2008), work here, worship here, and we intend to retire here.
In 2017, we had the opportunity to take a sailing sabbatical. We sailed 24,000 nautical miles, rounding Cape Agulhas, Cape Hatteras, and Cape Sable, and crossing the Equator, the Tropic of Cancer, Tropic of Capricorn and the Prime Meridian.
I currently teach cybersecurity and privacy courses to a global audience. Since 2016, I have served on the Bangor Savings Bank Board of Directors and chair the Enterprise Risk Management Committee. I am proud to be associated with a community-focused organization that is a leader in the living wage initiative and fosters innovation, economic growth, and job creation.

Wonder what it is like to be a candidate? Every week, I publish a campaign diary on my Facebook “Sari for Maine Senate” page and on my Sari2020.com web site.
I believe transparency is important. You'll find my diary to be an unvarnished look at what it is like to be a political candidate.
